Youth Travel 2019  10 Jul 2019

Adventure and compassion beyond age and geography

The world challengers are here again! Ebullient, seeking, generous, humble – qualities we repeatedly see in them every year, cornerstones of great character in the making. A group of teenagers who recognise the world as a space beyond their immediate comfortable lives!

Primordial nature at her verdant best, fragile eco-systems and bio-diversity hotspots, understanding of different cultures and cuisines by interacting with local communities with adventure and fun being the key ingredient of every moment are all promises we keep and will continue keeping.

Kalypso welcomes this travel which has a purpose beyond mere sightseeing, which develops character in the young and contributes to the lesser-privileged communities around the world.

Giving back to the environment  05 Jun 2019

Kalypso believes in the conservation of the environment - an ethos etched in our hearts. We have made it a way of life. We view the World Environment Day as an opportunity to showcase and emphasise to the world around us the utter necessity and the urgency to act on this belief.

The beautiful Anaerangal lake (Suryanelli) surrounded by cloud-topped mountains was the arena of our bout with pollution this time. The lake situated close to the butterfly forest in Munnar is so named as its waters lure down the elephants - Anaerangal or literally, where the elephants come down!

Our team of dedicated in-house conservationists descended on the lake precincts today early in the morning to completely rid the area of plastics, other waste materials and any sign of human contamination. The trash collected was then handed over to the concerned authorities for proper disposal.

As someone said wisely, animals and birds do not litter, only humans do. So let us behave like animals for a change.

Yoga - a quiet hike to rejuvenation  15 Apr 2019

"Adopt the pace of nature. Her secret is patience,” said Ralph Waldo Emerson

This secret has led us to understand how the traveller who arrives in India returns with a body and mind transformed, not just by its natural beauty, cultural complexities and warm people, but also its age-old practices of yoga and Ayurveda.

Yoga is an experience of India that will remain with you forever and at its heart lies patience. Whether it’s on the trek through the rainforests or during the kayak down the serene backwaters, an understanding of Yoga is the unique and patient friend who stands by you when life asks questions and you need re-energizing.

Let us show you India- Trek, kayak and return renewed in the company of this secret friend!

Kerala Blog Express 2019 - when Kerala plays host to international bloggers!!  25 Mar 2019

When the Kerala Blog Express rolled out, tourism in Kerala held its breath in excitement…26 young people from 21 countries, so many world-views, so much possibility…when Kalypso took them on a boat, bike and trek tour, the infectious exuberance had caught on.

Now they have moved on to chart new paths, leaving in their wake memories of a fun group who were compassionate and understanding of cultures and energetic and enthusiastic about seeing more and knowing more…memories of a lively bunch who were as keen to visit a tribal hut as they were to kayak in the backwaters of Alleppey.

Bloggers and influencers of KBE season 6, your joie de vivre is catching, your generosity of spirit is inspiring…Kerala and Kalypso thanks you for placing Kerala on point on the world tourism map, and so skipping goodbyes, we say hello for the next time...

Veganuary Challenge  17 Feb 2019

A Vegan Cycle Tour of India - it's all about animal love!! ???? ????... When the vegans came to India to cycle and spread their idea of love, compassion and respect for animals, India embraced them throughout their 5 days and 400 kilometers of not-so-perfect roads with her sun-drenched little towns and villages, yellow mustard fields, vast dried-up river beds, distant hills and roadside vendors.

The Vegan Cycle Tour of North India was a unique experience that Kalypso was privileged to be part of. We accept that completing this mission of love that involved hard work, tough terrains, unfamiliar cuisines and trying weather in a foreign land was a challenge of huge proportions. At the end of it, dear Veganuary, we acknowledge your sheer grit and determination to see the task to its completion, the passion for the cause of Veganism, the satisfaction at having contributed to it, the practical reality of the money you raised for the conservation of 25000 land-farmed animals, the cause dear to your hearts, the purpose of the cycling tour. We at Kalypso take off our hats to you!!

As George Adam Hesse, motor-bike enthusiast and adventure-lover from the UK, set out on the iconic Royal Enfield’s Himalayan from Ernakulam along the bustling roads of Fort Kochi, he was determined to pack in every possible ounce of fun and adventure into this customised tour.

Tuk Tuk Adventures South India  09 Oct 2018

Happily launching our new product - India, TukTuk Adventures. Explore India the unconventional way.

A tour on a tuk tuk takes your South India experience to another level altogether. For what other ride provides you with the time to take in and assimilate the mesmerizing landscape en route while at the same time giving you the opportunity to exchange a laugh or two with your travel-mate and stretch your legs every once in a while.

Throughout your ride on this quaint, unusual vehicle you can be secure in the presence of Kalypso’s support staff that enables the tour almost seamlessly.

Our tuk tuk challenge flagged off from the heart of Fort Kochi with more than 15 enthusiastic travellers to explore real India. From the flat terrains of Kochi onto the cultural heartland of Kerala, Cheruthuruthy and then to Pollachi in the neighbouring state and the surreal hill station Kodaikanal before re-entering Kerala at Bodi with its spectacular wildlife sanctuary and going on to Alleppey’s treasure trove of waterways prior to returning to Kochi… how much more can a tour offer in breath taking diversity and experiences.

Experiences that promote the idea of interaction with local communities – weaving a coconut leaf or viewing the creation of the one meter chai or trying a hand at traditional fishing or in making a customary popular snack, we offer you experiences that are genuine as part of our attempt to share glimpses of real life in South India.
