Vagamon

Description

Known as the ‘Scotland of Asia’, Vagamon was discovered by the British who found the place ideal for tea plantations which were then taken over by Christian missionaries. Vagamon is a hill station in the border of Kottayam-Idukki district of Kerala. Untouched by commercialization, Vagamon is an overtone of green with never-ending lush green hills and pretty ravines. It is the perfect tourist place surrounded by cool fresh air, beautiful meadows and pine forests. Between a chain of three striking hills, Murugan, Thangal and Kurisumala hills are the representation of the three chief religions in Kerala, Hindu, Muslim and Christian respectively. The three hills together represent cultural harmony. For those looking for adventure, Vagamon has amenities for trekking, rock climbing, paragliding and mountaineering. Paragliding Grandpre’s are held every year by the Adventure Sports and Sustainable Tourism Academy (ASSTA) in partnership with Kerala Tourism Development Council (KTDC).
