Tour Overview

Our multi-activity holidays highlight a mix of outdoor activities and offer great opportunities for those interested in activity, adventure and exhilaration, with different experiences to challenge mind and body each day. On this itinerary we give you an opportunity to cycle through along stunning beach roads and remote village back roads. Go dolphin watching and kite surfing. Safaris in two different national parks. Kayaking in the spice district and paddy district. Finally ending up on one of t.he last untouched beaches of Sri Lanka where you could snorkeling

Coast to Coast Wild Life Discovery

Day 1: Arrival in Sri Lanka and transfer to Negombo
We pick you up at the airport and transfer to the close by town of Negombo. Only 15kms from the airport it’s the ideal location rest up after your long flight 
Day 2: Cycle to Chillaw
Start from your hotel onto the exciting Negombo Beach Road heading north out of the town. We then get onto B roads riding through villages. Enjoy getting glimpses of small town life as we head towards the beach. We take a short detour towards the Munneswaram temple to bless the coming days and then continue on village roads passing backwaters and mangrove swamps before finally hitting the beach road. Cycle along the coast with the sea splashing by your side right up to your hotel for the night. 
Day 3: Cycle to Kalpitiya
Today we continue north along the coast ending at the Puttalam Lagoon. We start heading north along the B roads passing mainly coconut plantations. We then head west towards the coast to ride along the Mundel Lagoon. The closer we come to Kalpitiya you will notice the village ethnicity changing. The last stretch is along the Puttalam lagoon up to our hotel.  
Day 4: Dolphin watching at Kalpitiya
Dolphin watching tours are done early mornings. Spinner Dolphins are the most common with Bottlenose, Risso and Indo-Pacific. Humpback Dolphins are also seen. November to April is the best time of the year. Post lunch you can try your hand at kite surfing in the lagoon just relax by the beach. 
Day 5: Transfer to Wilpattu for an afternoon safari
After breakfast we head to the Wilpattu National Park. The unique feature of this park is the existence of "Willus" (Natural lakes) - Natural, sand-rimmed water basins or depressions that fill with rainwater. We check into our accommodation of tented Safari tents located right in the national park. After lunch we head into the park for a Safari. Sightings of elephants are quite common and if we are lucky leopards as well. 
Day 6: Transfer to Anuradhapura
Anuradhapura is the capital of the North Central Province. It is also one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka dating back to 5th century BC, famous for its well preserved ruins of ancient Sri Lankan civilisation. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site home to the oldest living human-planted tree in the world (249BC), the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi which is said to be part of the Sri Maha Bodhi under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment We spend the evening walking around the ancient ruins.  
Day 7: Cycle to Habarana
We start from our hotel and carefully cycle through busy Anuradhapura town. We quickly exit the town and get onto smaller roads heading south east. Today’s ride is dotted with lakes and large expanses of paddy fields. We will also skirt the Ritigala and Minneriya Natural Parks 
Day 8: Transfer to Nalanda via Sigiriya and Dambulla
We start early morning to beat the crowds and visit the stunning Sigiriya rock. We spend a few hours climbing to the top and exploring the surrounding gardens. We then head to the Dambulla cave complex. After a few hours we continue to our next stop located in the heart of the spice district. 
Day 9: Exploring Nalanda
Next we explore our surroundings. We take a relaxed walk through the spice plantations and visit Nalanda Gedige, an ancient Hindu temple built in the 8th century. After a cooking demonstration and a delicious lunch, we also explore the Bowatenna Reservoir in kayaks. 
Day 10: Day hike to Knuckles foothills
Today we begin our hike to the Knuckles range. We start at the reservoir and slowly make our way up through spice plantations and forests ending up at a Forest Bungalow. Like life the day is filled with ups and downs. We need to watch our pace as the majority of the climb is at the end of our hike. 
Day 11: Transfer to Mahiyangana. Cycle to Vedda village
Mahiyangana is a town situated close to the Mahaweli River in the Uva Province. Mahiyangana is a Pali word which means flat land and thus the majority of the people in the area are paddy cultivators. Once we reach we cycle to a nearby Vedda Village (indigenous tribe) and go for a walk through their village. See how they hunt with their long bows and have a meal with village people. 
Day 12: Kayaking in the Mapkada Wewa
Today is a rest day, but if you are feeling restless we can go kayaking in the Mapkada Lake 
Day 13: Transfer to Passikudah via Madura Oya. Safari in t
Today we head to Passikudah. However en route we take the opportunity for a quick safari in the Madura Oya National Park. This park is quite untouched by tourists and we have a high chance of seeing elephants. We then head to our final destination, peaceful Passikudah. 
Day 14: Snorkelling or Diving in Passikudah
Most choose to just plonk by the beach. However, with its shallow coral reefs and historic shipwrecks there is diving/snorkelling available to the beginner as well as the advanced divers. The main features of diving in Kayankerni, Passikudah are the healthy coral gardens teeming with colourful fish such as butterflyfish and angelfish. For those looking for some adventure, there are deeper rocky reefs and wrecks. 
Day 15: Transfer to Colombo
Our last day we transfer back to Colombo by road. There is an option to fly back as well by Sea plane.
